A metaphysical landscape suspended between dream and reality takes shape within the Platek – Outdoor Lighting showroom in Corso Monforte 7 and expands to the nearby Platek temporary exhibition at Piazzetta Giordano 4. On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, the installation gives life to a reflection on light that draws inspiration from various natural symbols and aims to create a pathway of discovery among Platek’s outdoor lighting collections, playing on reverberations. The geometric shape of the circle, which represents the universal symbol of the sun, as well as of the infinite nature of energy and the inclusivity of the universe, is the sign that characterises the whole intervention, also becoming a connective element between the two different spaces.
Featured on the facade in yellow shades to symbolise the morning sun, the figure of circle also typifies the interiors of the showroom. Here the installation presents Platek’sIn Curved Air outdoor lamp to the public for the first time, the perception of which is enhanced by an articulated system of mirrors covering both the ceiling and the walls. It expands the limits of the space by amplifying images of natural landscapes and dreamlike evocations generated by AI, which run along the wide central LED wall and in which the geometric form of circle stands out. Along the sides, two light-integrated display cases house several components of In Curved Air, ranging from the sketch by the designer to samples of the materials with which it has been constructed, as part of an in-depth narration. The installation continues at the Platek – Outdoor Lighting temporary space at Piazzetta Giordano, where the circular element recurs on the mirrored surfaces that bundle up along the walls in a play of reverberation. The installation offers a double perception of the space: looking from the entrance we see the six vertical LED walls, featuring a flow of natural and floral images. By changing the point of view, the same LED walls reveal the presence of recesses that house six Platek outdoor lighting collections. The upper floor has a mezzanine area, a more private space dedicated to meetings with clients.
