The first to be unveiled during the opening days in spring 2022 was MIND Flow: a street painting intervention spanning 1.8 km in length and 15,000 square meters in area. Unfurling from the underground exit to the Tree of Life, visitors are guided by environmental and wayfinding graphics designed by the Studio. Conceived by starting from the idea that, within a city that tells its story, the spaces for movement can be also spaces for communication, the installation develops as the backbone of MIND Milano Innovation District’s identity. It crosses the whole site, connecting all the crucial points of the Decumanus by means of a continuous yellow flow that visually defines the pedestrian cycle path leading to the art installation areas and green areas, up to the innovative buildings that are gradually opening.
Within the graphic flow, 100 meaningful words interlace, grouped intoseven tapestries distinguished by thematic areasthat recall the values and the identity of MIND: city of the future – the mind challenges – the future of health – crosspollination – the human ecosystem – the green & blue infrastructure – research.
MIND Flow is a project in constant evolution that will be implemented soon, becoming an innovative example of interactive urban trekking. It represents a more communicative way to work on cities in relation to visitors or citizens, to provide not only spatial orientations but also cultural ones, which can contribute to the creation of a place’s identity and build pathways of curiosity and exploration.
